Shower Screen Buying Guide

Shower ScreenShower screen is functional, by providing extra wet area in the bathroom, and also decorative, by adding extra luxurious and interior. Shower screen is used for extra room in the bathroom. Even though bathing is a private activity, a small room for showering would add more comfort to the bath experience. It also keeps you from mopping up the water splashes in the dry area after bath. So if you have extra money, why wait for one?

There are many types of shower screens to find in the market. As customer’s demand increasingly varies, manufacturers also come with more offers. Despite the wide choice of shower screens available, choosing the right one needs careful considerations especially if your bathroom is not that spacious.

  1. Determine the free space available. The more space you have, the more flexible you can choose. If your bathroom only has little space left, a big shower screen will dominate the room too much. So take measurement first and then plan for the amount of space you can use for the shower screen. Also consider the door interaction, windows, and ventilation.
  2. Determine the most suitable type of shower screen. There are generally ready made and walk-in cubicles, but they fall into more sub-types to choose from. The ready made shower screen is simpler and less spacey, while the walk-in is more luxurious and well-featured. Later, you can determine further about the material, accessories, door, theme, and model.
  3. Determine the features you need. Some shower screens come with high-end technologies to promote user’s comfort, but they can be deadly expensive. You should choose what is in budget for extra comforts, for example: massage jet, shelves, built-in seat, shower mat, and hydrotherapy facility.
  4. Determine the door that fits the bathroom. Shower door models have also been varied. There are frameless and framed door, magnetic door, pivot door, bi-fold door, sliding door, and others. Frameless door will give chic and clean look, while the magnetic door will ensure watertight. If you have limited space, the sliding and bi-fold door should be suitable.
  5. Determine the design and finishing you want. Material like glass will create spacious effect in the bathroom, besides it is easier to clean. Shower screen with more motives and of different colour would give different look, especially if other sides of the room look conventional. However, if you like simple bathroom design let all share the same colour and simplicity.
